How do I find a scholarly or academic article?
Answer
- Choose one of the journal article databases on the A to Z list. Review the database descriptions to find the best match for your topic or assignment. For example if you are researching a disease, choose one of the health science subject databases such as CINAHL Complete. If you are not sure which database to choose, select a one of the "Good Starting Point" databases that has scholarly journals related to many different fields/subjects like Gale Academic OneFile, Academic Search Premier or the Career and Technical Education database
- Enter your topic keywords (read more about keywords here) into the database search box. Use the database filters to narrow the search result list down to "Academic Journals", "Scholarly Journals" or "Peer-Reviewed" articles, the name of the filter will vary between different databases.
- Review the article to ensure that it is a scholarly article (read more here)
