How do I use my borrowed WiFi hotspot?

There are three different models of loaner WiFi Hotspots, all of which have an unlimited data plan included. The strength of the WiFi connection depends on your location. Each loaner kit includes set-up instructions. See attached PDF for instructions with images. Please contact Blackhawk Information Technology Services (ITS) if you are having issues with your hotspot.  

T-Mobile Network: Franklin T9 model

  1. Plug in
  2. Press and hold power button to turn on 
  3. Press power button repeatedly to cycle through the menu options and view the name and password for the hotspot 
  4. On the device you are connecting WiFi to (this can be a personal device or loaner laptop), click on the network/WiFi connectivity icon and look for the hotspot name
  5. Click connect and enter the password from the hotspot display screen

T-Mobile Network: Alcatel Model

includes device, charger (2 pieces) and password card

  1. Plug in
  2. Press and hold power button to turn on 
  3. Locate the WiFi password on card included in box (email or call the library or ITS if the card is missing)
  4. On the device you are connecting WiFi to (this can be a personal device or loaner laptop), click on the network/WiFi connectivity icon and look for the hotspot name
  5. Click connect and enter the password from the password card.

Inseego MiFi 7000 (US Cellular) Hotspot Model - No longer available starting Summer 2024

  1. Plug in
  2. Press and hold power button to turn on 
  3. If prompted follow the setup instructions on the touchscreen, then select "WiFi Name/Password" to view the name and password for the hotspot
  4. On the device you are connecting WiFi to (this can be a personal device or loaner laptop), click on the network/WiFi connectivity icon and look for the hotspot name
  5. Click connect and enter the password from the hotspot display screen
